This is exactly what a friend told me recently.
And they're probably right. My pantry is pretty boring.
Just lots of jars of nuts and seeds really. Nothing to see here folks.
Oh and coconut. Coconut flour, coconut oil, coconut butter, coconut flakes, coconut water (....like the shrimp scene from Forrest Gump)
But......
You should see my fridge!
Now that's where the action is. All kinds of sexiness going on in there!
A veritable smorgasbord of gut friendly produce.
PLANTS: veggies, fruit and herbs
PREBIOTICS: garlic, onion, leek, asparagus and green bananas
PROBIOTICS: yoghurt, sauerkraut and kefir
HEALTHY FATS: sour cream, butter and avocado
PROTEIN: eggs and grain-free, pasture-raised meat
We live out of our fridge, and if you've been to one of my gut health workshops, you've heard me bang on about FRESH, REAL FOOD! We should ALL be living out of our fridges, with only the occasional pop-in to the pantry.
Live out of your fridges peoples and remember my simple rule for great gut health:
If it grows out of the ground - eat it.
If it has a barcode or list of ingredients - don't.
And be proud of your boring arse pantry - the fridge is where it's at!
